Did you know we can get the street we live on closed for the day so our kids can play out properly? And there is a Playing Out kit available at Greenway Centre to help with the day.
All we need to do is chat with our neighbours, arrange some volunteer stewards for the day, let the Council know the date we want to close the road, and once they give us the OK then let loose!
How about chalk drawings on the pavement, old fashioned Hopscotch, races, bike tracks, chatting with all the neighbours, enjoying cuppas and treats together, and having a good old outdoorsy time?
There is a Playing Out kit available at Greenway Centre with all the bits needed like Hi-Viz vests and extra outdoor games.
I loved playing out when I was little and remember racing home, dumping my bag and coat, grabbing a snack, and rushing straight out again to play with friends – and generally run amok!
It might not be quite like that these days, but there is support to make a great day out on our doorsteps.
