Latest Filton Airfield Development Info

Representatives from YTL (the company that bought the airfield site) attended the August meeting of the BS10 Parks and Planning Group and gave an interesting presentation on the latest planning phase on the site.

Planning permission has been approved for phase one, access for which will be from the
Blenheim roundabout on the Hayes Way road. This will include 600 new homes, office space, North Filton Railway station, grade II listed Spitfire Hangar and pillbox, Filton Wood and Brabazon Park and a Metrobus route.

Brabazon Park
Will be an area of 4 hectares (about 10 acres) and will include an informal public open space, informal hard open space, natural and semi natural areas, play areas, allotment areas, and sustainable urban drainage basins (SUDS).

North Filton Railway Station
Will provide a direct connection to Temple Meads with two platforms, a Metrobus route, also included will be a Station Square, a public square bicycle parking and the listed pillbox.

Spitfire Hangar
Is a grade II listed building which will contain office space, a marketing and sales suite, café and public square.

Residential Phase one
Will include 270 homes, 17% of which will be affordable, will be a mix of housing and apartments with private gardens and terraces, included will be attractive landscape and communal private open spaces. These new homes will be architecturally attractive and include smart technology.

The company are hoping to start construction of the phase one housing during the winter of 2018.
