Reminder for Death Cafe at the Greenway Centre on Monday

Join us for this first meeting to talk about the inevitable – the one thing we’ll all have in common – death.  It’s not a bereavement or grief support group, but an open discussion space to explore all the elements of this fascinating topic.

Our first meeting is on Monday 22nd May, 4:30 – 6pm, at the Greenway Centre in Community Corner.

Everyone’s welcome and there’s no need to book, just turn up.  We’ll be sharing cuppas and cake for which donations would be welcome.

Here at the Southmead Development Trust we work with a community development approach – we listen to what residents would like to happen and support them to find ways to achieve it.

The idea for a Death Cafe has come from residents and was put forward in the last ‘Living in Southmead Community Update’.  We looked into possibilities and connected with the international Death Cafe who suggest the objective of a Death Cafe is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.  Principles for Cafes are: that the group is not for profit; is held in an accessible, respectful and confidential space; has no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action; that discussion is alongside refreshing drinks and nourishing food – and cake!
