The Venerable Neil Warwick, Archdeacon of Bristol, is delighted to announce that the Revd Gaby Doherty, Curate at St Matthew’s, Kingsdown, Bristol is to become Curate-in-Charge of St Stephen’s Southmead, City Deanery, Bristol Diocese. Ven. Neil says:
I’m delighted that Gaby has accepted the invitation of the Rt Revd Vivienne Faull, Bishop of Bristol and the St Stephen’s Parochial Church Council (PCC) to become Curate-in-Charge at St Stephen’s.
Following the departure of Revd Jon Roberts, we sought a collaborative leader with relevant experience who could quickly join St Stephen’s, and Gaby was clearly the right person. A positive meeting between Gaby and the PCC in September confirmed that both Gaby and St Stephen’s could flourish together.
I’m grateful for all of the ways that people at St Stephen’s have loved and served their community through the pandemic and beyond. Everyone at St Stephen’s and in Southmead will be in my prayers, that God will bless you, that Jesus will be with you and the Spirit will enliven you.
Revd Gaby says:
I feel honoured and blessed to be called among your number and I pray that the Lord will use me and my family to be a blessing to you and Southmead. This is the Bible passage I want to share with you in this moment…
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Cor 1:4-9
Revd Gaby’s first Sunday will be Remembrance Sunday on the 12th November 2023. A welcome and thanksgiving service at St Stephen’s will be held later in the year.
