Volunteers Needed! Social Prescribing for Equalities and Resilience

By The Care Forum.

Do you live in or around Southmead?

Do you have free time to spare?

Would you like to do something really worthwhile, fulfilling and enjoyable?

You may be just who we’re looking for!

  • Gardening Support Volunteers and
  • Creative Writing Support Volunteers needed!

Our Social Prescribing service (SPEAR) needs local knowledge, support and insight from someone like you to help us provide free and confidential support to anyone over the age of 18years.  Our service goes that extra mile to support people to improve their general wellbeing and is tailored to the needs of the individual, working at a pace that is right for them.

We support people who:

  • feel depressed or low
  • feel socially isolated – little or no support from family/friends
  • are out of work or unable to work owing to sickness
  • are recently bereaved
  • are a carer or ex-carer
  • fear the outside world
  • experience high levels of anxiety
  • feel low in confidence or self-esteem
  • have few or no hobbies or interests

What do we offer?

We find activities to help people get out of the house, become more socially connected, feel better in themselves and, if they want to, make a difference in their community.  We offer a bespoke service and help people to identify what their interests are, the support that would most benefit them in improving their wellbeing, and work with the individual to find opportunities to suit them and help them to take part.

How can you help as a volunteer?

As a volunteer you will support our clients in accessing their chosen activity or group.  You will support clients in community classes largely based at The Greenway Centre.

How do I get involved?
