The Mead Is Now Monthly!

Our format has changed because our council funding has ended and we can no longer afford our production costs.  However, with a small income from advertising we can afford this new version, and to print it monthly, which is the good news!

We won’t be able to deliver to every house in Southmead any longer as, sadly, our Committee Chair and Chief Organiser, Ian Thornley, is retiring. Ian, and his wife Irene, have been part of the heart and soul of this paper, arranging its printing and delivery to our 5000 homes since its first edition in 2004.  The Thornley’s smooth and military-style operation for getting The Mead to each of our doors can never be matched, so we’ll be leaving batches at community locations where you can pick up your free copy. You could also pick up a batch from us to deliver to everyone in your street, just let us know how many you need.

The Mead relies on you for its content so please keep sending your letters, events, articles and stories to email editor@themead.org.uk, or better still, register and upload them on the website themead.org.uk; here you can self-publish at any time and we will select as many items as we can for each month’s printed issue. Items can also be dropped in at the Greenway Centre, Doncaster Road, marked The Mead Group. We need more Committee Volunteers so please do join us. Get in touch by email, or phone – leave a message at 0117 950 3335, we will call you back asap.

Thank you and long live The Mead!
